Con­cord Com­mu­nity Cin­ema

The Wee Look Back ar­chive film ses­sion num­ber 36 is to­day, Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 11, at 1.30pm in Dum­bar­ton’s Con­cord Com­mu­nity Cen­tre with 90 min­utes of film from West Dun­bar­ton­shire and fur­ther afield. Ad­mis­sion is £2, in­clud­ing tea and buns at the in­ter­val. Mem­ber­ship sub­scrip­tion for fea­tures, clas­sics and mu­si­cals film clubs is avail­able at £8 for four films per club.

Line dance

The Texan Rock Coun­try West­ern Club are hold­ing a night on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 13, at the Ma­sonic Hall, Church Street, Dum­bar­ton. Buz­zard Creek will pro­vide the mu­sic. There will be bingo, a raf­fle, open the box and fast draw. Ac­com­pa­nied chil­dren wel­come. Ad­mis­sion £5. Doors open 7.30pm.


Cly­de­bank and District High­land As­so­ci­a­tion are hav­ing a ceilidh in the Napier Hall, Old Kil­patrick, on Fri­day at 7.30pm. Ad­mis­sion at the door £8, in­clud­ing tea and home bak­ing.

Cof­fee morn­ing

On Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 14, there will be a cof­fee morn­ing in St Au­gus­tine’s Com­mu­nity Hall, Dum­bar­ton for Alzheimer Scot­land from 10am un­til noon. There will be sev­eral stalls.


On Satur­day , Oc­to­ber 14, Langcraigs Hill­walk­ing Club’s walk will be Beinn an Lochain. Meet at 8am at Gil­mour Street car park, Alexan­dria. On Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 18, the club will meet to pre­pare the 2018 pro­gramme. Meet at 8pm at the Cutty Sark Cen­tre, Howat­shaws Road, Bellsmyre. Nearly new sale

A sale will be held in River­side Church halls, Dum­bar­ton, on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 19, from 10am un­til 4pm and Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 20, be­tween 10am and 2pm. Adult’s and chil­dren’s, house­hold goods, books, toys, bric-a-brac, tombola. Ad­mis­sion £1, in­clud­ing tea/cof­fee and bis­cuits.


The Vale of Leven Townswomen’s Chil­dren at St Michael’s Pri­mary in Dum­bar­ton handed over do­na­tions of money and food to the Scot­tish SPCA cat and dog home in Mil­ton.

Sports de­vel­op­ment

The West Dun­bar­ton­shire Leisure information book­lets to share with fel­low pupils.

They com­posed a news­let­ter for par­ents and fam­i­lies to broaden their ap­peal for food and reg­u­larly li­aised sports de­vel­op­ment com­mu­nity pro­gramme has classes avail­able for chil­dren up to 19. Sports in­clude ath­let­ics, bad­minton, bas­ket­ball, foot­ball, goal­keep­ing and ten­nis. For younger chil­dren there are foot­ball, bal­ance bike and gym­nas­tics ses­sions. Acous­tic mu­sic

Dum­bar­ton Acous­tic Mu­sic Night will meet at St Au­gus­tine’s Church on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 13. Doors open at 7pm with a start time of 7.30pm, fin­ish­ing at 10.30pm. £5 en­try, take your own bot­tle and glass. This month there will be mu­sic from with staff from the SSPCA via email.

Fi­nally, they held a cake and candy event rais­ing £300. They pre­sented the cheque along with do­nated bags of food and toys from pupils. Ka­tee Kross, Ian and Val Wald­man, The Mid­gies, Tripe and Onions, Joe Plun­kett and Friend. Money raised from the past few shows will be do­nated to a lo­cal char­ity. Luss SWI
