Ladies gather for 50th celebration
It was evening worth celebrating for the ladies members at both Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Golf Club as they gathered to mark a milestone anniversary last week.
Members of both clubs joined together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rockvale Shield - a competition which has become a tradition between the clubs for half a century since it began in 1967.
Golfers of all ages meet twice a year to play in the friendly tournament, and Vale lady captain Mary Mackle and Dumbarton lady captain Georgina Coleman were deighted to have members gather for the celebration on September 29.
Georgina said: “It was lovely to see, past, present and most importantly future generations that will keep this lovely Rockvale Shield alive.
“We had people of all ages come along and it’s a lovely feeling that we’ve had a friendly against Vale of Leven Golf Club for 50 years and it’s set to continue for the unforeseeable future.”
