Furious Aitkenis unhappy with Sons

Dumbarton boss Stevie Aitken slammed his side’s “disgusting ”performance against Stranraer — despite seeing them book an Irn-Bru Cup quarter-final spot.

Goals from Craig Barr and Mark Stewart put the Sons through, with Stephen Okoh firing a late consolation for Stranraer.

But Sons boss Aitken was far from pleased with his team’s performance.

Fuming, he said after the match: “Am I happy? No, I’m not. It was a disgusting second-half performance from my team.

“We weren’t good enough, not by a long shot. We’ve set standards in the two years I’ve been here and we fell well below them.”

While the gaffer was left unhappy, the result helps Dumbarton continue on their most successful Irn Bru Cup performance to date.

Dumbarton will now face Raith Rovers at home on November 11.
