Brazen thief steals car from drive­way

A thief stole a pair of car keys from a house in Strath­leven then made off with the home­owner’s car.

The crook struck at around 2.30am on Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 4 when the prop­erty on Strath­leven Drive in Bon­hill was bro­ken into.

Po­lice are ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion af­ter the in­ci­dent dur­ing which the Volk­swa­gen Golf was stolen.

Res­i­dents liv­ing in the Bon­hill es­tate were shocked by the in­ci­dent.

One neigh­bour who lives nearby said:“It’s ab­so­lutely shock­ing. It’s nor­mally so quiet here and noth­ing hap­pens at all so to think some­one has been wait­ing around for an op­por­tu­nity to steal some­one’s car is dis­gust­ing.

“I don’t think any­thing like that has hap­pened down here since I have lived here.

“Hope­fully they don’t tar­get any­one else’s house. It’s got ev­ery­one on edge a bit.”

De­tec­tive Sergeant Alan Mac­dougall from Cly­de­bank CID said: “En­quiries are at a very early stage to es­tab­lish the full cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the in­ci­dent and I would ap­peal to any­one who no­ticed any­thing sus­pi­cious to please come for­ward.

“Any­one with in­for­ma­tion is asked to con­tact Cly­de­bank CID via 101 and quote in­ci­dent num­ber 0542 of Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 4. Al­ter­na­tively you can call Crimestop­pers on 0800 555 111 where de­tails can be given in con­fi­dence.”
