Linking the Vale to Bali
An Alexandria author worked with schools 12,000km apart during a project with children in Bali and Christie Park Primary.
Successful novelist Paul Murdoch travelled to a remote island to work with children who attend the six schools in its villages.
Paul spent his trip teaching the children to read and write, and helped them to produce their own picture book on sanitation, nutrition and hygiene.
Speaking before his trip, Paul said:“I will be in the
Balinese highlands, and it would be really exciting for the children out there if they can share some of their experiences with the children in Alexandria.
“Their way of life, their beliefs, their animals are all very different from ours but they are still children, many of them the same age as the youngsters at Christie Park. So it might be really interesting for children here to celebrate the differences but also to appreciate the things they have in common.
