Shay says farewell to the Sons

Back in 2015 Stephen Grind­lay made his fi­nal ap­pear­ance in Sons colours, as he cel­e­brated his tes­ti­mo­nial be­fore leav­ing Ian Mur­ray’s side.

The Vale born keeper first joined the club backin 2001 from New­cas­tle United, en­joy­ing six suc­cess­ful sea­sons at the Rock be­fore mov­ing to Queen of the South in 2007.

A spell at Ayr United fol­lowed, be­fore he re­turned to his lo­cal team in 2010 be­ing named in the Sec­ond Divi­sion Team of the Sea­son in 2012 as he played a key role in the Sons pro­mo­tion to the Cham­pi­onship.

Af­ter 296 ap­pear­ances, he was re­leased by the club in May 2015 and went on to join Beith Ju­niors, with whom he won the 2016 Ju­nior Cup.
