Fes­ti­val of English mu­sic at Sud­bury church

The Suf­folk Vil­lages Fes­ti­val, based in ‘Con­sta­ble Coun­try’ on the Suf­folk-Es­sex bor­der, is pre­sent­ing a spe­cial con­cert on Mon­day, May 30. Held at St Peter’s Church, Sud­bury, from 6pm, it fea­tures one of Han­del’s most mem­o­rable and pop­u­lar English the­atri­cal works, Acis & Galatea, plus Pur­cell: The Masque Of Cupid & Bac­chus from The Ti­mon Of Athens. The Fes­ti­val of­fers several con­certs through­out the year, four at the Fes­ti­val it­self dur­ing the Au­gust bank hol­i­day week­end and more in its Au­tumn and Spring Se­ries, from Novem­ber to May. The di­rec­tor of the Fes­ti­val is mu­si­col­o­gist­per­former Peter Hol­man, di­rect­ing the Es­sex Baroque Or­ches­tra. So­pra­nos are Philippa Hyde and Claire Tom­lin.
