Festival of English music at Sudbury church
The Suffolk Villages Festival, based in ‘Constable Country’ on the Suffolk-Essex border, is presenting a special concert on Monday, May 30. Held at St Peter’s Church, Sudbury, from 6pm, it features one of Handel’s most memorable and popular English theatrical works, Acis & Galatea, plus Purcell: The Masque Of Cupid & Bacchus from The Timon Of Athens. The Festival offers several concerts throughout the year, four at the Festival itself during the August bank holiday weekend and more in its Autumn and Spring Series, from November to May. The director of the Festival is musicologistperformer Peter Holman, directing the Essex Baroque Orchestra. Sopranos are Philippa Hyde and Claire Tomlin.
