A fine food fayre at Footman’s

Let's Talk - - Postbag -

With reference to the article (February) Footman’s, the Store of East Anglia’ I enclose a photograph taken in 1957 when Footman’s hosted a food fayre in its basement.

My sister, then Susan Smith and I, Judith Smith (bottom right) were demonstrating on behalf of Southwell’s, a subsidiary of Burton, Son and Sanders, how to make macaroons from packet ingredients.

Next to our stall was a ‘Mary Baker’ stall demonstrating their packet cake mixtures.

I regret I do not know who the gentleman in the centre is or the other ladies but I’m sure many readers will be able to recognise these people. JUDITH SUTTON Colchester Essex
