Memories of Mel - a genuinely good bloke

Let's Talk - - INTERVIEW -

Where Was I? follows the successful tour of Jones and Smith last year – Griff’s one-man, stand-up and story show about the late Mel Smith, his untimely death, their relationship and the onset of ageing. Griff says: “I put together a sort of memorial for Mel and I got up and introduced various old friends who talked about Mel and told some very funny stories. But most of the stories were about Griff running around being neurotic and Mel sitting in his chair, smoking his cigar and watching him, chuckling away. “And that’s what Mel was like. He was very easygoing about things. He never got agitated about things – and as a result was a very comforting and good bloke to work with. We stayed together because the same things made us laugh.”
