Through the funnels

Let's Talk - - SURNAME -

In East Anglia, the surname Funnell is associated with one of the first professors at the University of East Anglia, in Norwich. It was Professor Brian Funnell, along with Prof Keith Clayton, who put together the plan in 1967 to establish the renowned School of Environmental Sciences there. The late Prof Funnell, a geologist, was also the inspiration behind the Mousehold Heath Earth Heritage Trail in the area of woods and parkland which he loved in Norwich. Elsewhere, William and Pippa Funnell are well known British showjumpers. John Funnell is a Welsh rugby player, and Peter Funnell is senior curator at the National Portrait Gallery in London. In the USA, Dr Tom Funnell is a Californian optometrist.
