In Nancy, cap­i­tal of Lor­raine, three days of cel­e­bra­tions be­gin on 4 De­cem­ber cul­mi­nat­ing with a feast day on 6 De­cem­ber, which is held to com­mem­o­rate the death of the pa­tron saint of lawyers, sea­men and school chil­dren. The city sparkles with light as car­ni­val floats head to Place Stanis­las where the Christ­mas mar­ket is in full swing.
