Thanks very much magazine for your recent articles on visiting a pharmacy/doctor (October 2015 issue), which proved very timely. On a recent visit to our holiday home in France, I discovered that I had left my medication at home in the UK. Having read the article, I knew the French vocabulary for my condition and was able to approach the local pharmacist who told me that this medicine was available in France, but I would need to visit the doctor for a prescription. She recommended a local GP and I managed to obtain an appointment the same day (which would be unlikely in the UK) and obtain the needed medicine. This enabled us to continue with our holiday. Helen Hart, Bristol
