Ask the agent

No one knows the area like a local estate agent. We asked Deborah Plowright, of Chez de Chez Properties, for the inside track on Aude

Living France - - DESTINATION -

What’s the cheapest property you have on your books?

We have a pretty two-bedroom renovated village house near Mirepoix, that is an absolute bargain at just €55,000. Unusually for a house at this price, it’s in fabulous condition.

How much would you expect to pay for:

a detached property with land in good condition? Prices vary considerably depending on how much land the property has, and how close it is to a popular town or village. However, as a rule of thumb, a three/four-bedroom detached villa with a large garden starts at around €250,000.

a three-bedroom townhouse? Again, the location, outside space and state of repair, have a huge impact on the price but as a general guide, a three-bedroom village house in good condition, with a small roof terrace, in a quiet village starts at around €100,000 and if you want a house with a garden then you’d be looking at a starting price of €130,000.

a renovation opportunity?
