Popular Drôme hits a peak

Living France - - LES PRATIQUES -

It might be relatively unknown to many British buyers, but the department of Drôme in Rhône-Alpes experienced a surge in interest in November according to Rightmove Overseas’ monthly search report. The number of searches for the department increased by a massive 84.21% in November 2015 compared to the previous month, pushing Drôme 259 places up the rankings. Drôme is one of France’s best-kept secrets. Sandwiched between the Alps and Provence it enjoys the best of both with fragrant lavender fields and soaring peaks. Not to mention an average property price of €180,000, which is considerably less than the average for both Rhône-Alpes (€214,000) and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (€293,000).
