Being a recently retired French teacher with a house in southeast Tarn, much like Dave Pepper whose letter appeared in the February issue, we too have been there on 14 July. We always drive to a particular spot overlooking the famous town of Carcassonne, where we have a picnic and then, once darkness has fallen, we watch what has to be one of the best, and one of the longest, firework displays ever.
