We love hearing from you, so why not write us a letter, send us an email, or join in on Facebook or Twitter?
The latest edition of Living France arrives through the letter box bringing with it our monthly fix of France and a chance to connect with our French house. We started our subscription at the beginning of our house hunt – two years of ups and downs, excitement and disappointment. We spent 20 years dreaming of Pont-l’Abbé, but we bought our Brittany house in Plougasnou, a place we’d never visited.
In between our house-viewing trips, the monthly scouring of Living France for hints, tips and inspiration kept us going. By the day we collected our keys from the notaire, I knew parts of the propertybuying section off by heart.
Three years later, the house is now finished, but we can’t live there yet – we’ve bought in readiness for retirement. Our regular pay cheques cushion the shocks of unexpected bills and letting the property generates a little income.
We may be householders, but the magic remains – boarding the ferry, the first sight of the rocky Breton coast, the first glimpse of the church spire in Plougasnou, turning into the narrow lane that leads to the house.
Would I recommend buying in France? Unequivocally yes.
