I moved to Meursault, in the Côte-d’Or department of Burgundy. Surrounded by hills and vineyards as far as the eye can see, it has impeccably preserved stone buildings, gas lamps, châteaux, a town centre with cafés and a few shops, and is home to many of the finest wineries in the world. People are uncomplicated, friendly, live elegantly and with the cycles of nature with little machinery to maintain vineyards. Some still use horses. Wine flows freely and copiously – a party or event in Meursault easily continues merrily until sunrise.
