France’s real es­tate sec­tor is the most trans­par­ent in its re­port­ing of en­vi­ron­men­tal per­for­mance and is­sues ac­cord­ing to new fig­ures re­leased by fi­nan­cial ser­vices firm, JLL. The sur­vey an­a­lysed 37 coun­tries, with the French real es­tate in­dus­try nar­rowly beat­ing that of the UK, Aus­tralia and Ja­pan to achieve a per­fect score on all seven en­vi­ron­men­tal ques­tions that mea­sured fac­tors in­clud­ing car­bon re­port­ing, green build­ing cer­ti­fi­ca­tion and min­i­mum energy stan­dards. JLL said that France’s high mark was largely due to its con­sis­tent roll-out of leg­is­lated low car­bon man­dates across the prop­erty sec­tor.
