For the civil ceremony, you may again be required to have a translator or interpreter to be present, or perhaps even choose to have one for the benefit of any guests who don’t understand French.

Some couples choose to have the civil ceremony and the religious service on the same day, while others prefer to have them on separate days. Similarly, if you opt for a non-religious celebration/wedding, you can hold this on a day after the official civil marriage. Most wedding venues have a member of staff or someone they can call on to act as officiator for the exchange of vows.
