When life gives France lemons, it makes the world-famous Fête du Citron festival. Created in Menton in 1934, the event uses some 145 tonnes of citrus fruits to create a dazzling display of largerthan-life-sculptures and designs that are created by a team of 300 professionals. A night parade, along with a fireworks display and a show entitled ‘Garden of Lights’ in the Jardins Biovès means that the event is all the more spectacular after dark. Taking place from 11 February to 1 March, the 84th edition of the festival is taking on the theme of Broadway, where songs from sing-along classics like Mary Poppins and Singin’ in the Rain will delight the festival’s 240,000 visitors. fete-du-cit
