Music at the museum
There’s always plenty to see at Paris’s Musée d’Orsay, but this month, there’ll be art of the acoustic kind too, with the concert series, Romantique-Authentique that starts on 21 February. With musicians playing compositions from a repertoire of romantic music on period instruments, it is a magical way to round off a winter Paris night. A ticket to the concert costs €14.
From Strasbourg with love
With its cute cobbled streets, historic canals and charming bridges, Strasbourg is one of France’s most romantic locations, and this month it celebrates love being very much in the city’s air with Strasbourg Mon Amour from
10-19 February. Over the 10-day festival, visitors and locals alike will fall head over heels for the Alsatian capital and the special events it is hosting for the occasion, which include music concerts, gourmet dinners, exhibitions, pop-up bars, museum tours and more.
Be my Valentine
If you really want to sweep your loved one off their feet then take them to where it all began – St-Valentin village in Indre. Named after the saint, the self-proclaimed ‘Village of Love’ attracts couples of all ages each year to celebrate Valentine’s Day on 14 February. From watching chocolatiers making chocolate hearts to buying sweet souvenirs, getting your letters stamped at the St-Valentin post office or even getting hitched, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. And, if the latter is a little bit much, simply enjoy a stroll around the village that is specially decorated for the occasion.
