La mèche has many mean­ings: a can­dlewick, a bomb fuse, a strand or lock of hair, a drill bit or a med­i­cal dress­ing! Être de mèche avec quelqu’un means ‘to be in ca­hoots with some­body’ and ven­dre la mèche means ‘to let the cat out of the bag’.
