May in France

Living France - - CONTENTS -

Elegant pale stone architecture, colourful markets and charming squares make Aix-en-Provence a splendid town to explore on foot. The former capital of Provence is dominated by the captivating landscape of Montagne Ste-Victoire, a source of inspiration for Aix’s most famous son – Paul Cézanne – who could see it from his house in the town. From 20-28 May, Aix celebrates one of the region’s traditional musical instruments – the galoubet-tambourin (musical pairing of a flute and tambourine) during the Festival du Tambourin. aixenprovencetourism.com
