A new residential complex in the centre of Lorient, Brittany will complement a new high-speed train service in the city. The new Breton neighbourhood called Lorient Odyssée will be developed around the city’s train station where, from July 2017, a new high-speed train line will reduce the journey to Paris to under three hours. The project will comprise residential buildings, houses, shops, offices and several green areas. Constructed from mainly wood, fiberglass and glass, the development will aim to take in environmental concerns, including noise pollution and energy consumption. The first block, comprising 110 dwellings is planned to be completed in 2018. It is thought that the one following that will be finished by 2030.
