Faux amis

Living France - - À La Maison -

Have you ever used the wrong French word to the amusement of others?

I found the French word amateur confusing at first. As well as meaning a non-professional/hobbyist, it can also mean ‘a lover of’, so for example, un amateur de vin means a wine lover.
