Turning over a new leaf
Europe’s first ‘e-Tree’ has been unveiled at a ceremony in Nevers in the Nièvre department. The solar tree has giant square leaves that convert sunlight into electricity and allows passers-by to charge their phones, browse the internet or simply enjoy the shade. It also supplies water and street lighting. The structure, developed by French-Israeli start-up Sologic, is inspired by the acacia tree that is found in the Israeli desert and the African savannah.
