Chil­dren in France are en­ti­tled to 15 hours of free swimming lessons this sum­mer, an in­crease of five hours, as part of the savoir nager pro­gramme. Run by the Fédéra­tion Française, the ini­tia­tive aims to en­sure that all chil­dren are safe when swimming or play­ing in the wa­ter. The lessons are avail­able dur­ing the sum­mer hol­i­days for chil­dren aged be­tween six and 12 years. You can see if your lo­cal swimming pool is tak­ing part in the scheme on the Fédéra­tion Française web­site.
