OYSTERS ON DEMAND
You may associate oysters with fancy restaurants and expensive champagne, but residents in Île de Ré can now order the shellfish from a vending machine. While most vending machines are stocked with chocolate bars and crisps, this machine is the first one to dispense oysters in France. Presented in wooden crates, a pack of two dozen oysters costs €15,30 and 50 costs €43,50. The machine is supplied with fresh oysters twice a day, at noon and 6pm.
