ON THE RUN

Living France - - What's New -

If I ever go for a run, it’s usually so I can enjoy an extra glass of wine with a chunk of brie guilt-free, so I was excited to discover Marathon du Médoc, a boozy, food-filled race through the vineyards of the Médoc in Gironde. The 26.2-mile race takes place on 9 September, and the runners (usually attired in fancy dress) do not replenish with water or protein bars. Instead, they stop at drink and food stands where they refuel on oysters, foie gras, steak and ice cream and around 23 glasses of wine. After the marathon, there is an after-party with fireworks and live music and the day after, there is a recovery walk, if you think you can handle more. marathondumedoc.com
