How would you like to live on your own French desert is­land? The Con­ser­va­toire du Lit­toral (the French Coastal Pro­tec­tion Agency) is look­ing for new res­i­dents to take over from a fam­ily run­ning a small­hold­ing on the is­land of Quéménès off the Brit­tany coast, with the rent cost­ing €600 a month. The fam­ily cur­rently liv­ing there have a farm where they keep sheep and pigs and grow pota­toes, and they also welcome vis­i­tors to the is­land. The Con­ser­va­toire du Lit­toral has al­ready received of­fers and is ex­pected to choose the is­land’s new res­i­dents in Oc­to­ber. The new­com­ers will then move to the is­land in Jan­uary and will be ex­pected to live there for six to nine years.
