NEW RESIDENTS FOR BRETON ISLAND
How would you like to live on your own French desert island? The Conservatoire du Littoral (the French Coastal Protection Agency) is looking for new residents to take over from a family running a smallholding on the island of Quéménès off the Brittany coast, with the rent costing €600 a month. The family currently living there have a farm where they keep sheep and pigs and grow potatoes, and they also welcome visitors to the island. The Conservatoire du Littoral has already received offers and is expected to choose the island’s new residents in October. The newcomers will then move to the island in January and will be expected to live there for six to nine years.
