A third of pri­mary schools in France will re­turn to a four-day week as the new school year starts. This fol­lows min­is­ter for ed­u­ca­tion, Jean-Michel Blan­quer’s an­nounce­ment in May that he would give lo­cal com­munes the flex­i­bil­ity to choose which timetable suits them best. For those that do, it will be the third time in the past nine years that they have changed the school sched­ule.
