Raise a glass!
France is expecting its lowest grape harvest since 1945, but the good news is it’s expected to be excellent quality. Better make the best of what is there then, and celebrate the vendage in style! I would love to be joining the 7,000 people at the port of Banyulssur-Mer on the Mediterranean coast for its Fête des Vendanges taking place from 4-8 October. During the five days of festivities there will be a programme of food and wine pairings, walks through the vineyards and workshops for young and old – little ones will love the messy job of squishing the grapes with their feet! The highlight for me would be the final meal – a barbeque on the beach to the sound of a live brass band! banyuls-sur-mer.com
