Château under the hammer

Living France - - The Essentials -

A château that played host to Henry IV on numerous occasions is being sold at auction with no reserve. Château de Charbonnières is located in the Parc Naturel Régional du Perche on the edge of the Loire Valley and was previously valued at €9 million in 2012. The 20-bedroom château was restored in 2010 and now has a cinema, conference space and gym. Despite the recent renovations, the château has kept its sense of history and retains many period features including marquetry floors, chandeliers and an 18th-century kitchen. At the time of writing, the bids for the château are still ongoing. conciergeauctions.com
