Two new sta­tions on line 4 of the Paris Métro will be named af­ter French women fol­low­ing a pub­lic vote. One sta­tion will be named Bag­neux – Lu­cie Aubrac, af­ter the leg­endary mem­ber of the French Re­sis­tance, and an­other sta­tion in Mon­trouge will be named Bar­bara, af­ter the singer, who is buried in a ceme­tery near the sta­tion. They will be­come two of only six Paris Métro sta­tions to be named af­ter women. This fol­lows the re-nam­ing of Place de l’Europe in the 8th ar­rondisse­ment to Europe – Si­mone Veil in May.
