FRENCH VILLAGES POPULAR ON AIRBNB
Some 800,000 travellers were expected to have visited French villages through July and August this year, according to figures from Airbnb. The village expected to have had the most visitors is Morzine in Auvergne-RhôneAlpes – one of the places that benefited from being close to the Tour de France route. Three villages in Occitanie made it into the top 10 most visited (Collioure, Cauterets and Bagnères-de-Luchon), and three in Corsica also featured – Bonifacio, Lumio and GrossetoPrugna. Villages across France saw a marked increase in visitors from 2017 with some welcoming more than five times more visitors in summer 2018 than 2017. Châtillon-sur-Cher in Centre-Val de Loire saw its numbers grow the most with nine times more visitors in summer 2018 than 2017.
