You ought to be in pictures…
PICTURE-PERFECT homes have been developed on a factory site in Camden where the world’s first electric camera was made.
Ernest F Moy’s, a radical engineering firm, filed scores of patents for inventions that changed the course of history — perhaps none more so than a “Kine” camera that recorded moving pictures. It was used for Hollywood’s first films, saw duty in First World War trenches and captured Captain Scott’s ill-fated Antarctic expedition, above, in 1912.
Tucked away in a quiet backstreet, new homes at Moy’s present a modern take on a classic London mews, with crisp brick façades, factory-style windows and dormers concealing sheltered roof terraces. What appear to be houses are flats, futureproofed for home automation. Industrialstyle parquet floors and dark metal finishes suit the area’s edgy, creative personality.
