ABBEY ‘You Shouldn’t Lose Your Identity Just Because You’re Pregnant’
We caught up with Abbey Clancy to get the lowdown on her latest Matalan collection, pregnancy style and (temporarily) hanging up her killer heels…
We’ve always thought that chatting to Abbey Clancy would be just like having a good old natter with a mate, and the leggy Liverpudlian model proved us totally right when we caught up with her as she took a train back to her home town for the birth of her brother’s baby. Breaking off the phone call every couple of minutes to answer four-year-old daughter Sophia’s questions (too cute!), it’s clear Abbey is a hands-on mum who’s trying to make the whole work/life balance thing, well, work.
Abbey’s come a long way since her early days of fame as a finalist on Britain’s Next Top Model in 2006. She married footballer Peter Crouch in 2011 and quickly became a fully fledged member of the fashion pack. She’s a regular on the London Fashion Week FROW, has big-name designers on speed dial (Giles Deacon made her wedding dress) and is adored by world-renowned stylist Katie Grand. Then, of course, there was that Strictly win in 2013. But all that wasn’t enough for this workaholic – in the same year, she added ‘designer’ to her already impressive CV, teaming up with purse-friendly high-street hotspot Matalan – now she’s about to launch her sixth collection.
If you’re raising your eyebrows at the 29-year-old’s jam-packed schedule, fear not – she’s more than willing to tell us how she keeps things together…
Congrats on your pregnancy, Abbey. We’ve got to say, you look amazing… Thanks! I’m on the home stretch, so I’m all about comfort now, which means I can’t wear my heels anymore! Are you missing them? Yeah, I am. The last thing I bought was some Superga pumps and I live in them now. The other thing I bought recently was a Burberry jacket… A treat for after the baby arrives? Yeah! And there are some great things in Zara at the minute. They have gorgeous black flares and a little crop
