‘I

Look (UK) - - SUMMER'S NEW -

love doing gigs like this, everyone here just wants to have a good time,’ says Katy B when we meet for her Renault Twingo Access All Areas show. We had only just found out that we were going to see Katy (much to the excitement of the Look office). We were picked up by a 70-strong fleet of Renault Twingos and driven to a secret location to watch one of Katy’s first performances of the year – and hear fresh material.

At the venue, soundchecks are happening and we’re able to explore. There are makeup booths for us to get a painted pout (much like Katy’s) and a games room. When we meet the singer, she tells us about her new album Honey and why she prefers these intimate performances.

‘I love it when you go and see an artist and they really talk to their fans,’ she says. ‘Performing’s an opportunity to thank them and I love going from a crazy big gig to an intimate one.’ We leave Katy to warm up her vocals and manage to squeeze in a dance off in the games area before popping into the Renault Twingo Access All Areas photobooth before the show.

Katy kicks off her incredible set with a high energy rendition of Lights On, before launching into album title track Honey in front of a 200-strong crowd. After belting our hearts out we’re exhausted and ready for bed. Bring on the next gig!
