Soz, Stan Smiths! Why Gazelles Are The New ‘It’ Kicks

As Adidas relaunches its cult Gazelle trainers, Look stylist Kate Andrews lets us in on her lifelong love affair with the never-date sneaks…

Look (UK) - - WHAT’S NEW -

If you’ve finally just got your hands on a pair of Adidas Stan Smith trainers, you might want to look away now. For me, however, news of Adidas reworking its iconic Gazelle design is music to my ears. I got my first pair of Gazelles when I was about 15. They were baby pink and I thought I was amazing – trust me, Gazelles were the thing to wear and I was the only person at school to have that colour. Fast forward 18 years and I now wear them in navy, with a flash of gold at the back. Yep, just like their new poster girl Kate Moss – the campaign features a picture of Mossy in 1993 wearing a burgundy pair – Gazelles stand the test of time. They go with skirts, dresses and jeans and they keep their shape. I often wear them to work, planning to swap them for the heels under my desk, but end up staying in them all day.

Right now, I’m off to relive my youth and snap up a brand-spanking new baby pink pair…
