sofia Boutella joins the cast as Jay­lah (top). the 34-year-old was a pro­fes­sional back­ing dancer for madonna un­til re­cently, when she de­cided to pur­sue a ca­reer in act­ing. this is one of her first ma­jor Hol­ly­wood films – nice work, sofia.

The Re­lease Is Bit­ter­sweet For The Cast

anton Yelchin, who plays Chekov, passed away af­ter an ac­ci­dent ear­lier this year. si­mon pegg and Zachary Quinto have said they’re pro­mot­ing the film in mem­ory of him. ‘We’ve lost a mem­ber of our fam­ily,’ said si­mon.
