Cara Delevingne: Are The Cracks Beginning To Show?

As Cara Delevingne rounds off a gruelling promotional tour for Suicide Squad, the cracks are beginning to show…

Sauntering through the streets of New York last week, Cara Delevingne seemed the picture of confidence – and why not? The model-turnedactress stars in Suicide Squad, one of the biggest Hollywood releases of the year; she’s rumoured to be engaged to girlfriend of 18 months Annie Clark, AKA St Vincent, recently admitting: ‘I’m completely in love’; and she turns 24 this week. But look a little closer and Cara’s skin seems to be telling a different story: her psoriasis, which she’s admitted suffering from when she’s anxious or stressed, has flared up.

So, when it’s supposed to be the most exciting time in her career, why is Cara feeling troubled? ‘She puts herself under so much pressure and it always comes out of her in a physical way – even if she’s strong mentally,’ a friend tells Look. ‘Her work schedule has meant [she and Annie] have been spending far less time together than they would normally.’

In an interview, Cara admitted: ‘If I don’t cry pretty much every day I’ll hold it in and it will manifest in me in things that are destructive, like my skin.’

Cara has apparently been really struggling to be away from her girlfriend – and it can’t have helped that Suicide Squad was panned in early reviews. ‘I constantly doubt myself,’ she said recently, before tweeting: ‘I am trying to learn how to not pick apart my every flaw. I am really good at that.’

‘There’s been very little let-up for Cara lately,’ says the friend. ‘All this work has really thrown her off – she misses Annie and she’s lost weight thanks to not maintaining a normal schedule when she’s rushing around. It’s no wonder her psoriasis has flared up again.’

Cara’s skin flare-ups were particularly bad at the height of her modelling career. ‘People would put on gloves and not want to touch me because they thought it was, like, leprosy or something,’ she’s said. ‘It wasn’t a good time – I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge.’

But while Cara’s struggling, one glimmer of excitement is the addition of a huge rock on her ring finger. While Cara’s agent declined to comment when Look asked about it, it’s thought that she and Annie are engaged. But even if that’s the case, there’s no time for the pair to celebrate as Cara’s schedule won’t let up anytime soon: as soon as the tour for Suicide Squad is over, she’s going straight on to promote Kids In Love, out 26 August. Let’s hope she and Annie manage to get some time together soon. In the meantime: we believe in you, Cara – chin up!
