Look (UK) - - THE TESTFACTOR -

1 Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen SPF 30

Look’s Gabrielle: This does-it-all protector is a primer, moisturiser and sunscreen all in one. Unlike most other sun creams this actually helped keep my foundation in place for longer. Expect zero slip. Joanna: This is a total suncare game-changer. The lightweight, velvety formula was the perfect make-up base – it felt just like a primer and left my skin softer and smoothed. My new go-to.

2 Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF 50

Look’s Gabrielle: This hardworking sunblock left a little shine on my skin when I used it on its own, but once I mixed it into my foundation it kept me protected all day without a trace. Joanna: One application in the morning kept my skin safe all day long – no reapplying necessary. I added some into my moisturiser and it kept my face from turning pink in the heat. It is a little bit expensive, though.

3 Benefit Dream Screen SPF45

Look’s Gabrielle: after a bit of rubbing in, this oil-free formula magically disappeared into my skin. I applied my make-up as normal and there wasn’t a greasy-looking area in sight. Joanna: despite shaking it up beforehand, I found this a bit difficult to apply because it was very runny. but after a lot of smoothing in it vanished, with zero residue. It felt like there was nothing on my face at all.

4 Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 45

Look’s Gabrielle: This talc-free powder protector is a dream come true for oily skin. I swept it all over after my moisturiser and it left an even, shine-free finish. Keep one in your bag for top-ups on the go. Joanna: I liked that this was a powder, as it made it really easy to apply throughout the day and helped mop up any oily areas. My one complaint is that the powder isn’t entirely translucent, so it might be a bit dark for pale skin.

5 Frezyderm Sunscreen Second Skin Velvet face Cream SPF 50+

Look’s Gabrielle: you get a lot for your money with this sci-fi sunscreen. The velvet, gel-like texture is instantly mattifying and helps to keep oil and sweat at bay all day. Joanna: I loved this formula – it kept my usually oily T-zone smooth and shine-free – but I found my foundation went slightly patchy when I applied it on top. I had to reapply it a few times throughout the day, too.
