Cycling Shorts: Yay Or Nay?

Thought fashion was done with the whole athleisure thing? Not by a long shoté

Look (UK) - - CONTENTS -

Tracksuits are one thing, hoodies another, but the latest sports luxe obsession is in a league of its own. Maybe it’s the Laura Trott fever that’s gripped the nation, or Kim K’s penchant for them – blame it on who you will, but cycling shorts are trending right now and we’re not sure how we feel about it.

Of course, there’s the obvious advantage of wearing them underneath flyaway frocks (if Marilyn Monroe had thrown on a pair beneath that white dress of hers, it would’ve saved her a lot of drama). That’s not how the fash pack’s doing things, though. Instead of hiding them under layers of chiffon when gale force winds are forecast, they’re rocking theirs in full view of street style photogs.

So are cycling shorts a wardrobe friend or foe? Our most fearless staffers took them out for a spin (see what we did there?) but the jury’s out. Comfy? It’s a given, but 64 per cent of you thought the trend was a total no-go. However, we found out that with clever layering, they can work for the office as well as when you’re off-clock. Just think, it’ll also cut your gettingready time post-gymsesh by half.

Try the look for yourselves and let us know how you get on. Who knew Kimmy was such a wardrobe revolutionary?
