THE NEW 9-5
For we as a nation are snuggling up and nestling in until March, so say Barclaycard’s latest findings. Call it Hygge if you will. Blame it on the clocks going back, rub your hands together, shiver and call it winter – but the UK is hunkering down. Barclaycard say we can expect to see a rise in 9pm to 5am shopping too, all from the comfort of our big, squishy, Hygge-y beds. ‘Slumber Shopping’ is already big business, thanks to the likes of ASOS, Marks & Spencer and Next [who make next day delivery SO. DARN. EASY!] but while it was once the preserve of mums shopping midnight feed or, well, me – frantically scrolling for that Friday night dress, now it seems one in 10 of us will go so far as to book a holiday from bed, propped up by our pillows plus that bit of plastic (and with one eye still on Netflix). Stats suggest 49% of us are shopping for clothing between 9pm and 5am, with 31% splurging on ‘panic presents’. I know I do. But, for the 51 % who still LOVE to try before buying, Click + Collect is your new BF. Bookmark your buys from 9pm to 5am by all means then pop on a ‘Fendi’ duvet coat and hit the shops early doors for your new buy. Because 9 - 5 alone’s no way to spend a living.
