It’s a lit­tle un­ortho­dox to kick off a fash­ion news story with a clas­si­cal ref­er­ence but, to be fair, much like the lion’s share of Gucci’s other trends, this de­serves to have its own place in his­tory. There for us in good times and bad, we’ve all come to rely on our black leather bik­ers be­cause, quite sim­ply, there’s noth­ing they don’t go with.

How­ever, the aim of Gucci’s game isn’t to blend in with the crowd – it’s to draw (wanted) at­ten­tion to your­self at ev­ery given op­por­tu­nity, and this tro­phy jacket will do just that. Em­bla­zoned with del­i­cate flo­ral mo­tifs and jux­ta­posed with fierce studwork, it’s lit­tle won­der it com­manded a re­sound­ing gasp from the fash­ion edi­tors sit­ting Frow-side. Shortly af­ter, it hit Gucci’s per­fectly pol­ished rails for a cool £7,440, and we swiftly put our dreams of own­ing one to bed.

Now, al­most six months later, the high street has fi­nally worked up not one, not two, nor three, but four amaz­ing dupes for us to choose from. It goes with­out say­ing that they’ll el­e­vate your jean and sweater combo to dizzy­ingly chic new heights but, worn over your se­quin frock, we guar­an­tee you’ll be the coolest girl at all your Christ­mas par­ties. Which is all we can hope for, re­ally.
