Why run? ‘I love the feel­ing of free­dom and re­lease I get from run­ning. I suf­fer badly with anx­i­ety and run­ning helps me deal with it, giv­ing me time away from my com­puter, so­cial me­dia and daily stresses. also, I love the non-aca­demic chal­lenge that run­ning brings.

Kit your­self out ‘I run 3-6 miles, four times a week, plus a long run when I’m marathon train­ing, so I need good clothes. The col­lab be­tween new Bal­ance and J crew is gor­geous – to­tally my style and func­tional too. I wore them when I did the new york marathon in novem­ber.’

Keen to try? ‘If you can’t run, walk. In­cline walk­ing is great for burn­ing fat, so power up and down a lo­cal hill. When you’re run­ning, for­get about the pace. Slow right down. It doesn’t mat­ter how fast you run your mile, it mat­ters that you com­plete your mile.

#RUNNINGGOALS ‘I want to run a Bos­ton marathon qual­i­fier. But hit­ting ev­ery sin­gle one of my work­outs in the four months lead­ing up to the Ber­lin marathon and ex­e­cut­ing a per­fect race is my great­est achieve­ment. I beat my goal time by nine sec­onds – spot on.’
