Let’s not pretend: 2016 was a bit of a shocker. Mainly politically, but let’s not go there. Instead, I’d like to share with you my excitement over some brand new labels set to shake things up in 2017.

I’m pretty certain that fashion will save us all so, without further ado, let me introduce you to Peggy Hartanto. Peggy creates what I can only describe as architectural works of art. Her eponymous label may only be four years old but Gigi Hadid, Lilah Parsons and Bella Thorne have already worn her pieces on the red carpet. But don’t think there’s an A-list price tag – everything starts at £90 and nothing is more expensive than £500. Peggy’s designs are currently stocked in Fenwick and online, with Selfridges and ASOS both having expressed an interest. Watch this space.

Similarly, Spanish shoe genius L’intervalle, recently worn by Immy Waterhouse, has set my feet all aquiver. When I first set eyes on the fuchsia, block heel mules and denim flatforms, I expected to see at least a three-figure price to go with them – but this fancy footwear starts at £60. Speaking of fancy, scarf aficionados Lily and Lionel branched into ready-to-wear last year, creating a beautiful collection of blouses, skirts and flowing maxis – all made of silk. All in all, 2017 is shaping up to be very promising indeed. Sartorially speaking, that is. The rest remains to be seen.
