For this is the week that the UK is most likely to ‘wobble’ – aka throw all of our good New Year’s diet resolutions out the window.* Blame January, blame the weather, but sometimes the lure of a chocolate bar or five is just. too. strong.
Having said that, us women are much more strong-willed than men when it comes to sticking to a diet plan. The guys are already wobbling by 5 January, lasting less than a week – while we’re likely to stand firm until 14 January. So what’s the secret to a successful diet?
‘I know how hard losing weight can be,’ says TV star and fitness guru Charlotte Crosby, who transformed her image through diet and exercise.
‘Fad diets don’t work. The best way to lose weight is to make a lifestyle change. Start exercising more, even if it’s taking the stairs or walking instead of driving everywhere.’
Cutting down on sugary foods is also important – and Charlotte has a very sweet tooth. ‘It’s really important to have tasty substitutes for your weaknesses,’ she explains. ‘I eat a Hartley’s 10 Cal Jelly Pot to satisfy me when I get sweet cravings.’
