The Week Hygge Cosy Hit Our Wardrobes

If there’s ever a time to embrace all things toasty, it’s right now…

Look (UK) - - FIRST LOOK -

Chances are you’ve already heard of the much-hyped phenomenon that is ‘hygge’ (pronounced hoo-gah) but, in case you’re totally unaware, let us bring you up to speed. It’s a Danish word that has no direct translation in the English language but basically sums up a mood of making everyday things more meaningful or beautiful. It’s a blissful state of being, which alludes to being completely snug and content. Sounds nice, huh?

Although it may be a hard concept to put into words (the closest we have at our disposal is ‘cosy’), as far as fashion’s concerned, its purpose reads loud and clear. Love it or hate it, since this Scandi export swept the nation, the high street’s followed with a bounty of toasty treasures. Think faux fur stoles, woolly coats, shearling booties and more cashmere than the Queen has in her wardrobe archives. We never liked body-con much anyway… 1 Top, £35, Max Studio at John Lewis 2 Trousers, £99, Rosie for autograph at Marks & Spencer 3 Coat, £99, Joy
