Kim’s definitely back on social media – but something’s missing…
Kim Kardashian put an end to her social media hiatus just over two weeks ago. the reality tv star – who’s finally returned to instagram, twitter and snapchat three months on from her robbery in Paris – resumed her position a fortnight ago, amassing over 42 million views on snapchat and 84 million impressions on twitter in just 24 hours. Go Kim! But although the star’s proven she’s still the queen of social media, fans have been quick to notice a dramatic change.
it’s no secret that prior to the robbery Kim regularly flaunted her wealth on social media – like her £3.5million20-carat engagement ring, pictured on instagram shortly before the raid. But fast-forward three months and she’s showcasing new bling on snapchat – a simple gold chain reading Calabasas, the name of a city in California, which sells for approximately $500 (£410) – and that’s not to mention her pared-down wardrobe. the price tags might still be designer – she’s not exactly broke – but a hoodie? on Kim K? So not what we expected.
‘Kim knows now that the robbers targeted her because of her jewellery,’ a source close to the star told Look. ‘she’s not taking any more chances. it’s why she told her husband Kanye [west] she doesn’t want him to replace her diamond ring.’ and that’s not all. ‘Kim’s also toned down her look,’ says another friend. ‘she’s wearing her hair longer as a sort of cover that she can hide behind. she feels safer, in a weird kind of way.’
But Kardash diehards have accused Kim of toning it down a little too much, querying another series of low-key family snaps taken in what appears to be a retro-style living room. one user wrote: ‘why you in a poor people house in all these photos? who you faking you rich af [sic],’ which has been upsetting for Kim.
‘she’s still not ok. she still wells up when she talks about the attack,’ says our source. ‘it’s only the kids that are keeping her going right now.’ here’s to Kim returning to her normal self soon, minus the diamonds…
